FAQ
#1 Is There a Registration Fee?
No, NESS is completely free for all selected participants.
#2 What is Covered?
We provide:
- Lunches throughout the event
- A dinner on the first evening
- A BBQ party on the last evening
- Accommodation stipends for some selected students, covering the full duration of the summer school.
Travel expenses are not covered, so participants will need to arrange their own transportation to Brno.
#3 How to Apply for the Accommodation Stipend?
Simply select the accommodation stipend option in the registration form when applying.
#4 How Does the Selection Process Work?
NESS has limited capacity because we focus on providing a practical, hands-on experience. The final number of participants will depend on the availability of our instructors and lab space, typically allowing only a few dozen students.
We select participants based on their CVs and motivation letters, aiming to build a diverse group with different backgrounds in science and engineering. While we prioritize candidates with relevant experience, we also want to give highly motivated students—even those without extensive experience—a fair chance to participate.
#5 Can I Attend All the Workshops?
Unfortunately, no. Due to time constraints and limited capacity, it’s not possible to attend all workshops during the week.
#6 Which Workshops Can I Attend?
When applying, you’ll be asked to rank the workshops from the one you’re most excited about to the one you’re least interested in. Once registration closes, we will assign participants to workshops based on their preferences and availability.
#7 • Can Ph.D. Students Apply?
No, NESS is designed for undergraduate students only (BSc. or MSc. level).
#8 When Will I Know if I’ve Been Selected?
We will notify all applicants within 2-3 weeks after registration closes (April 30th), letting them know whether they have been selected.
